Behind our house, wild peacocks roam. Peacocks, in case you didn't know, are not native to Los Angeles. They were imported by wealthy individuals from India. But here, they've made their home. They perch on our cars, roofs, fences, strutting their beautiful feathers, unconcernedly hold up traffic. And every spring, we get to see the new peacock chicks trailing their mothers as they make their circuit around the neighborhood.

Ever since moving to LA from Seattle, I've reflected on the idea of home. What makes a home? When does a new city and a new house begin to feel like home? How much is feeling at home about the external conditions and how much is about my internal state? Maybe these wild peacocks can teach me something.

24”H x 18”W | Acrylic and oil pastel on 1.5” gallery-wrapped canvas.

Comes mounted in a solid maple float frame and ready to hang.
